Over the past decade, I have founded and scaled a small multi-channel eCommerce business within the South African retail landscape. Navigating the journey from a solo startup to a highly automated, stable small business has provided me with a "hands-on MBA" in end-to-end business management.


Operations & Efficiency Architect

I specialize in transforming manual, labor-intensive workflows into streamlined digital ecosystems.

  • Operational Evolution: I transitioned a high-touch manual operation into a "lean" model by integrating 3rd-party logistics (3PL) and developing custom software tools to handle replenishment and order flow.
  • Process Documentation: I utilize video-based Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and custom software to ensure seamless hand-offs and maintain high fulfillment standards with minimal daily oversight.


Marketplace Strategy & Marketing

I possess a deep technical understanding of the "Buy Box" mechanics and search algorithms that drive sales on platforms like Takealot and Amazon.

  • Marketplace SEO: I manage the full lifecycle of product listings, from high-fidelity photography and custom background-removal tools to keyword-optimized descriptions that convert browsers into buyers.
  • Asset Management: I utilize Cloud-based Digital Asset Management (DAM) to maintain a centralized, agile library of marketing content.
  • Growth Engines: I actively manage promotion cycles and customer reviews to maximize visibility and maintain a competitive edge in high-saturation niches like Fishing Tackle and DIY tools.


Strategic Resilience

My business longevity is the result of continuous adaptation. I have successfully steered my small business through significant external shocks, including global supply chain disruptions (COVID-19), courier and logistics shifts, stock theft and near business failure as well as evolving marketplace policies. I focus on system stability, ensuring the business remains viable and profitable through automation and strategic risk mitigation.


Financial Management & Compliance

I have progressed from basic manual accounting to a fully integrated Sage One Cloud environment.

  • Fiscal Oversight: I manage all aspects of corporate finance, including VAT compliance, automated bank reconciliation, and the generation of real-time Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet statements.
  • Capital Allocation: I maintain a disciplined multi-tier banking system to manage operational cash flow and investment reserves effectively.


Leadership & The "Clockwork" Framework

Effective delegation has been my greatest area of growth. I apply a systems-thinking mindset to human resources, moving away from micromanagement toward a culture of ownership.

  • The IPO Method: I delegate by providing the necessary Information, granting Permission to decide, and focusing strictly on the Outcome.
  • The 4D Mix: I consciously structure my time around the 4Ds: Doing (Genius Zone), Deciding (Strategy), Delegating (Empowerment), and Designing (SOPs/Systems).
  • Autonomy & Trust: By implementing "Trust but Verify" feedback loops, I have empowered team members and partners to manage complex tasks, allowing the business to run like "Clockwork" while I focus on high-level design and growth.



Formal Foundations

While my primary experience is "in the trenches," my approach is grounded in formal theory. I completed the Management Advancement Programme (MAP) at Wits Business School (often referred to as the "Mini-MBA"). This provided me with a rigorous academic framework for the concepts of accounting, human resources, and strategic management that I apply to my business daily.


Why this matters

The combination of entrepreneurial grit and systematized thinking means I don't just identify problems, I formulate strategy and build the tools to solve them. I understand that code is only as good as the business process it supports and that business mangement is a multi faceted discipline.
